John 1:6-9
6 There was a man sent from God; his name was John.
7 He came as a witness to testify concerning the light, so that through him all might believe.
8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.
After coming to faith, I found that one of the most beautiful things about this journey is that we can bear witness to God in our everyday lives, becoming messengers of that light. As Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” In my younger days, it was that very light that guided me through confusion, providing a warm sense of direction.
But as my faith deepened, I came to realize that being a witness to the light isn’t just an honor—it’s a responsibility, and often a challenging one. Galatians 2:20 reminds me, “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” Yet, I frequently forget that I am not the light itself but a vessel for it. Only by genuinely surrendering and allowing this light to take root within me can I truly reflect it.
Surrender means laying down my own ego. As Galatians 6:14 says, “May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” Surrender also means being willing to reflect this light in all circumstances—whether I am healthy or unwell, busy or at rest—always asking for the strength to keep choosing faith over self-reliance.
Each time I learn to quietly let go, that light gently stirs within, radiating from my heart to those around me. This is a journey of continuous growth and joy, one step at a time, leading me toward a rich life in God’s presence.
