John 1:10-14 - Letting Go of Self, Embracing a Life of Grace

John 1

10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.

12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—

13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

On the journey of spiritual growth, the Father constantly teaches me to let go of myself—letting go of pride in the flesh, my own sense of reason, and even my stubborn willpower. I am beginning to understand that in spiritual life, true strength doesn’t come from my own efforts or struggles, but from the grace of the Lord. Every time I release my struggle and lean on Him in my weakness, a sense of peace and strength floods my heart, filling my life.

It is a wondrous practice of surrender and release. Just as Jesus, full of grace and truth, came and dwelt among us, only by learning to let go of my need for “control” can I truly find peace and strength in Him. Amen!
